Houston Center for Infectious Diseases HIV Clinic
The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) was initially described in 1981, and has since then reached epidemic proportions. The availability of HIV medications has dramatically transformed clinical practice within the last ten years. Your physician should be familiar with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of complications from HIV. Because the care of these patients is complicated, a good HIV clinic is essential to guarantee optimal results. In our practice we have a comprehensive HIV clinic that provides all patients with information and counseling and proper medications and antibiotics to prevent a secondary infection. Currently we have over two hundred patients actively participating and receiving treatment in our HIV clinic. We do not participate in any clinical trials for HIV, therefore we use exclusively standard and approved protocols.
